UNC Charlotte Alumni Association Scholarship:
Four $3,000 scholarships will be awarded this year


This scholarship is awarded to a UNC Charlotte junior who has shown exemplary school spirit through success in academic engagement and service to the University and the general community. Students with a Legacy Relationship to UNC Charlotte (Mother, Father, Step-Mother, Step-Father, or sibling) are encouraged to apply, although all students will be considered. Please include your relatives’ name and graduation year on the first page of your essay beside your name.

Criteria
The following criteria describe qualified applicants:
• is a full-time student currently enrolled at UNC Charlotte
• has earned at least 60 but no more than 90 credit hours
• has an off campus community service record
• has an on campus community service record
• has earned a grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale
• has participated in a UNC Charlotte honors program (desirable, but not required)

Application Process
1. Applicants will submit a personal statement, between 400-500 words, which describes how UNC Charlotte has made a significant impact on their undergraduate career. Successful essays will point to specific experiences and events. They will also show how the criteria of service and academic engagement have been met. The personal statement should be sent to the email address below as a Word document with Alumni Association Scholarship in the subject line. Include the student’s ID number at the top of the page along with their name, local address and phone number.

2. Two letters of support from UNC Charlotte faculty or staff. These letters should be sent directly from the faculty or staff members to the Honors College Office as email attachments (see address below). Only emails sent from faculty or staff email accounts will be accepted.

3. Completed applications are due in the Honors College Office by February 1, 2010

4. The personal statement and the letters of recommendation must be sent directly to the Honors College Office using the following email address:

Award
Scholarship recipients will be announced the day before Homecoming in February 2010.
